Review by Danny

Françoise Guimbert's latest album, Séga La Pente, is a vibrant and authentic representation of the traditional music of Réunion Island. The album features 11 tracks, each showcasing Guimbert's soulful vocals and the infectious rhythms of the island's signature musical style, séga.

The album opens with "Séga La Pente," a lively and upbeat track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Guimbert's vocals are powerful and emotive, and the accompanying instruments – including the ravanne, a traditional drum, and the kayamb, a percussion instrument made from sugar cane – create a rich and dynamic sound.

Other standout tracks include "La Maloya," a haunting and contemplative song that explores the history and culture of Réunion Island, and "Lalou," a playful and energetic track that showcases Guimbert's vocal range and versatility.
