Review by Brian Nygard

George Haslam's album Argentine Adventures In Jazz Ethnic And Improvised Musics is a stunning exploration of the intersection between jazz and ethnic music. The album features a range of traditional Argentine instruments such as the bandoneon, charango, and bombo, which are blended seamlessly with jazz instrumentation.

The album opens with "El Choclo," a beautifully arranged tango that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Haslam's saxophone playing is both emotive and technically impressive, and he is complemented perfectly by the other musicians on the album. Tracks such as "Candombe" and "Milonga" showcase the rhythmic complexity of Argentine music, while "Machu Picchu" is a hauntingly beautiful ballad that highlights the album's improvisational spirit.
