Review by Michelle Nantz

Trois Nocturnes Pavane Bolero is a stunning album featuring the works of three of the greatest composers of the 20th century: Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and Evgeny Svetlanov. The album is masterfully conducted by Svetlanov himself, who brings out the beauty and complexity of each piece.

The album opens with Debussy's "Trois Nocturnes," a hauntingly beautiful suite of three pieces that perfectly capture the mood of the night. Svetlanov's interpretation is both sensitive and powerful, and the orchestra's performance is nothing short of breathtaking.

Next up is Ravel's "Pavane pour une infante défunte," a melancholic piece that showcases the composer's unique style and his ability to create hauntingly beautiful melodies. Svetlanov's interpretation is sensitive and nuanced, and the orchestra's performance is simply stunning.

The album concludes with Ravel's "Boléro," a tour de force of orchestration and rhythm. Svetlanov's interpretation is dynamic and powerful, and the orchestra's performance is nothing short of electrifying. The piece builds to a thrilling climax that will leave listeners on the edge of their seats.

About Клод Дебюсси, Морис Равель Евгений Светланов

Born: August 22, 1862 (Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France). Died: March 25, 1918 (Paris, France). Claude Debussy was a French composer. He is sometimes seen as the first Impressionist composer, although he vigorously rejected the term. He was among the most influential composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Debussy's music frees itself of the academicism of the late nineteenth century (in particular that of the Austro / German School) to offer new perspectives and dimensions to twentieth century music. Through the use of pentatonic scales, of the whole tone scale, he returns to the ambiguity of modal systems and accomplishes a revolution of traditional harmony, different from the Wagnerian revolution. Debussy's music frees itself from the tyranny of the bar, which with its periodic accents forces the rhythm to a pre-ordered repetitions; as a consequence of these metric-harmonic innovations the classical forms are abandoned.
